EU Creates Environmental Rating System for Biofuels

Research groups have developed a system for the European Commission that quantifies the environmental impact of biofuels. The system represents part of the commission’s activities to ensure that biofuels and bioliquids are sourced sustainably. The system takes into account the amount of carbon in soils and biomass when land use changes as a result of biofuels production.
