U.S. GHG Emissions Fell in 2008

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the U.S. fell 2.9% from 2007 to 2008, according to an EPA report. Total emissions of the six primary GHGs totaled 6.96 billion m.t. of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). CO2 emissions, at 5.92 billion m.t., accounted for most of the total. Emissions remained higher than in either 1990 or 1995. Industrial sector emissions fell 2.3% from 2007, to 2008, to 1.34 billion m.t.
