SolarWorld to Create Largest U.S. Solar Silicon Plant

Solar silicon manufacturer SolarWorld (Bonn, Germany) says it will refurbish and expand a silicon wafer manufacturing facility at Hillsboro, OR that it recently purchased from Komatsu Group for €30 million. The move will make Hillsboro the largest U.S. solar silicon cell manufacturing facility, SolarWorld says. SolarWorld will invest about €300 million ($394 million) in the facility.
