Russia hikes Ukraine's gas price more than expected

Gazprom (Moscow) has hiked the second-quarter price it charges for supplies of natural gas to industrial consumers in Ukraine by more than $200.00 per 1,000 cubic meters, to $485.50 per 1,000 cu meters. The first-quarter price of $268.50 per 1,000 cu meters included a discount that Russia agreed on with Ukraine in December 2013. Gazprom removed the discount following Russia’s dispute with Ukraine that culminated in Russia’s recent annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea region.
