Jinko Solar opens photovoltaic panels plant in South Africa

New York Stock Exchange–listed Jinko Solar (Shanghai), the fourth-largest solar photovoltaic manufacturer in the world, on Tuesday opened a solar photovoltaic module manufacturing plant at Cape Town, the company’s first outside China. The facility will produce up to 1,300 solar panels/day, equivalent to 120 megawatts in solar-power-generating capacity/year.   The panels are expected to help take the load off the power grid of the state-run electricity utility Eskom, says Morgan Peng, managing director of Jinko Solar.
