People & Business :: Energy and Feedstocks India Plans Energy-Efficiency Targets for Chlor-Alkali, Fertilizer Industries11:19 AM MST | January 12, 2011 | Ian Young The Indian government will for the first time announce energy-efficiency targets for eight energy-intensive industrial sectors. The sectors include chlor-alkali and fertilizers. The others are aluminum, cement, paper, power stations, steel, and textiles. The targets, to be announced in April 2011, will cover 580 industrial units. They must be achieved by March 31, 2014 and violators will be penalized. Each unit in a particular sector will have to reduce its individual energy consumption and the percentage reduction for the most efficient plants will be less than...
