People & Business :: Energy and Feedstocks House, Senate Slow to Agree on Energy Legislation4:34 AM MDT | August 7, 2007 | Kara Sissell House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., CA) unveiled a series of “energy independence” bills, which include proposed mandates for more energy efficient appliances, more ethanol blend (E85) fuel pumps, and tax incentives for plug-in hybrid vehicles. The Senate passed a bill last month that would increase corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards for cars and light trucks to 35 miles per gallon by 2020, from the current 27.5.
