European Commission presents new guidelines on state aid for energy

The European Commission has adopted new rules on public support for energy and environmental protection projects. The Environment and Energy State Aid Guidelines (EEAG) will support European member states in reaching their 2020 climate targets, at the same time addressing distortions in the market that may occur as a consequence of subsidies provided to support renewable energy, the commission says. The guidelines promote a gradual move to market-based support for renewable energy, according to the commission. In addition, new provisions are provided on state aid...
