People & Business :: Energy and Feedstocks Congress Takes Up Bills to Expand Domestic Energy Supply11:19 AM MDT | September 12, 2008 | Kara Sissell Congress may vote as early as this week on energy legislation that would expand drilling in the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS), industry representatives say. ACC says it supports a bill proposed by Representative Neil Abercrombie (D., HI) which would expand drilling in the OCS but not impose new taxes on energy firms. The Abercrombie bill, cosponsored by Representative John Peterson (R., PA), would repeal a moratorium on drilling 125 miles from the U.S. coast but prevent drilling closer than 25 miles.
