Cabot receives activated carbon contract to supply Northeast utility company

Cabot’s purification solutions segment has received a $5-million contract to provide its Darco Hg-LH extra activated carbon to an undisclosed major power generating facility in New England. The contract will allow the major Northeast utility to meet state regulations for mercury emissions, Cabot says. Several US states have recently established regulations to reduce mercury emissions to alleviate health issues, including high mercury levels in consumable fish, the company says.
