Petrochemical makers remain upbeat about prospects this year. Attendees at the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association’s (NPRA; Washington) International Petrochemical Conference (IPC) at San Antonio last week acknowledge that the next downturn in the petchem sector is coming, but the question is when. The why and the how is known, they say, as a substantial wave of capacity from Asia and the Mideast readies to hit the market starting later this decade.
