BASF Introduces Catalyst for Heavy Resid Feedstocks

BASF has introduced Aegis, a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst designed for maximizing fuel yields from FCC units that use heavy resid feedstocks.   The catalyst is supported by BASF’s technology platforms, enabling refiners to adjust the catalyst’s zeolite-to-matrix (Z/M) ratio to enable yield selectivity. The catalyst has “superb metals tolerance and bottoms upgrading capability,” the company says.
