UK start-up targets 50% market share for its titanium-based PET catalyst

Start-up business Catalytic Technologies Ltd. (CTL; Stockton-on-Tees, UK) says it is aiming for 50% of worldwide polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin and film production to be based on CTL's novel, titanium-based catalyst within five years. CTL says its catalyst eliminates the use of the heavy-metal catalyst antimony oxide. The company has invested more than £1 million ($1.7 million) on R&D for the technology and, in 2013, launched a patent for the catalyst.
