Toray and China BlueStar Link in Membrane JV

Toray Industries and China National BlueStar Group (Beijing) say they have agreed to establish a water treatment joint venture next May. The jv will produce and trade water treatment membrane products. The jv plans to invest Rmb500 million ($73 million) to build a new facility, which will be located in the industrial development area of Shunyi Airport, Beijing. The plant will include production of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes and assembly of membrane elements, Toray says. Commercial operations are expected to start in April 2010.
