REG breaks ground on $13.2-million biodiesel improvement project

Renewable Energy Group (REG; Ames, IA) has broken ground on a $13.2-million improvement project at its Newton, IA biodiesel refinery, the company announced. The investment will increase the plant's ability to produce an even higher-purity biodiesel from a wider array of raw materials, the company says. The upgraded process, including distillation, removes impurities and leaves behind the purest form of the fuel, REG says.
