Yara net profits fall as lower fertilizer prices offset record volumes

Yara International (Oslo), a leading global fertilizer producer, today reported a major decline in second-quarter net income. Net income after minorities fell to 1.87 billion Norwegian kroner ($312.3 million) from NK2.79 billion in the year-earlier period. Earnings per share were NK6.68 compared with NK9.82. Excluding net foreign exchange losses and special items, the result was NK7.98/share compared with NK10.80/share in second-quarter 2012.
