Wacker reports lower income and revenues, surge in polysilicon demand

Wacker Chemie on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of €5.4 million ($7.3 million), a massive drop on the €28.8 million in the year-earlier period. Sales were down 3%, to €1.17 billion, with Ebitda 18.5% lower, at €167.9 million. Ebitda margin declined from 17.2% in the third quarter of 2012 to 14.4% in the third quarter of this year. Volume growth increased sales by about €112 million, while lower prices, especially in solar silicon and semiconductor wafers, reduced sales by some €109 million, the company says.   Wacker...
