Wacker reports higher first-quarter sales and earnings, confirms outlook

Wacker Chemie today reported higher first-quarter sales and earnings and confirmed its outlook for the whole of the year. Ebitda was 73% higher, at €285.2 million ($395.8 million), on 8% higher sales, at €1.16 billion. Ebitda margin was 24.6% compared with 15.3% in the first quarter of 2013. Net income in the first quarter reached €64.2 million compared with €5.1 million in the year-earlier period. All five business divisions contributed to this growth, Wacker says.
