Sika's first-quarter sales slip because of cold weather across Europe, North America

Sika's (Baar, Switzerland) sales decreased by just over 1% during the first quarter of this year, to 1.04 billion Swiss francs ($1.6 billion), compared with the first quarter of 2012, the company announced today. Despite "a good start to the year," results were negatively impacted by cold temperatures during March across Europe and North America, the company says. Earnings were not disclosed. European sales, which represent close to 46% of the total, dropped by 3.7%, to SF477.5 million during the first quarter compared with a year earlier. North...
