People & Business :: Earnings/Finance Siam Cement's chemicals business reports huge fall in quarterly profits7:21 AM MST | January 30, 2013 | Deepti Ramesh SCG Chemicals, the chemical subsidiary of Siam Cement Group (SCG; Bangkok), reported a 73% fall in profits in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared with the year-ago quarter, to 185 million baht ($6.2 million), mainly because of lower equity income from associate companies, SCG says. Fourth-quarter sales increased 7%, to baht49.25 billion, mainly because of higher sales' volume as a result of increased capacity utilization, SCG says.
