Showa Denko’s chemicals and petrochemicals businesses report higher earnings, sales

Showa Denko reports a 39.9% fall in net profits for the nine-month period ended 30 September compared with the year-ago period, to ¥6.75 billion ($68.5 million). Nine-month sales increased 12.9%, to ¥617.5 billion, largely because of higher sales in the company's petrochemicals business segment, Showa Denko says. Showa Denko’s petrochemicals segment recorded a 57.9% rise in nine-month sales compared with the year-ago period, to ¥207.6 billion, and reports an operating profit of ¥1.97 billion compared with an operating loss of ¥2.17...
