Novozymes reports higher first-quarter sales and earnings

Novozymes (Bagsvaerd, Denmark) on Thursday reported a 35% rise in net profit, to 694 million Danish kroner ($128.7 million) on sales up 7%, to DK3.03 billion. Ebit grew by 30%, to DK923 million, and Ebit margin was 30.4% compared with 24.9% in the first quarter of 2013. Sales of bioenergy and household-care units were the most significant contributors to sales growth.
