Mosaic Posts Strong Sales, Beats Wall Street Estimates

Mosaic reported net income of $624 million ($1.40/share) for the fiscal second-quarter ended November 30, compared with $1.03 billion ($2.29/share) in the year-ago period. Despite lower earnings, the company beat analysts’ estimates of ($1.28/share), according to Thomson Reuters (New York). Sales were up nearly 13%, to $3.01 billion, driven by improved pricing for they company’s potash and phosphates products.   Operating income in the company’s potash business was $358 million, up 42% from the year-ago period, on higher selling prices...
