Improved demand lifts Cabot's fourth-quarter results

Cabot Corp. reports fourth-quarter net income of $53 million, 32.5% higher year-over-year (YOY), as volumes increased across most of the company's reporting segments. Adjusted earnings were up 6.8% YOY, to 78 cts/share, but fell 1 ct short of analysts' estimates, according to a consensus compiled by Thomson Reuters (New York). Net sales increased 105.9% YOY, to $898 million.
