Bayer reports strong second-quarter in life sciences business, maintains 2013 forecast

Bayer today reported strong second quarter growth in its HealthCare and CropScience businesses but said that Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) faced difficult market conditions. "We are currently maintaining our forecast for 2013, even if this appears increasingly ambitious," says Bayer chairman Marijn Dekkers. Group net income was up 74.8%, at €841 million ($1.1 billion), on sales 2% higher, at €10.36 billion.
