BASF reports higher profits, cautiously optimistic about 2014

BASF today announced its fourth-quarter and full-year 2013 results and said it is cautiously optimistic about this year. Fourth-quarter net income rose 16.3%, to €1.14 billion ($1.57 billion), on flat sales, €18.2 billion. Full-year net income was €4.84 billion compared with €4.82 billion in 2012 on sales, close to 3% up on 2012, at €74.0 billion.  Ebit before special items in the fourth quarter was 18.1% higher, at €1.45 billion, and the  7.19 billion in 2013 was up 8.2% on the Ebit before special items achieved in 2012...
