BASF plans methane-to-propylene investment in the US, reports higher income

BASF today reported a 2% rise in first quarter net income to €1.48 billion ($2.05 billion) on 1.1% lower sales of €19.5 billion. Earnings before interest and tax (Ebit) before special items were down 3.3% to €2.14 billion. Earnings per share in the first quarter were €1.61 compared with €1.57 in the year-earlier period. Sales declined considerably in the oil & gas segment, were down slightly in performance products and flat in chemicals.   The company has also announced that it is evaluating an investment in a world-scale...
