Members of the United Steelworkers Union (USW; Saskatoon, SK) picketed PotashCorp’s Cory mine at Saskatoon on July 28, slowing but not halting potash mining operations, reports say. More than 96% of 500 union workers at PotashCorp’s Cory, Patience Lake, and Allan sites voted in favor of a strike if no progress was made toward a contract that addressed issues including control over contracting out, pensions, wages, vacations, and bonuses.
