People & Business :: Corporate Social Responsibility Solvay Turns to Sustainable Energy3:37 AM MDT | June 26, 2008 | Alex Scott Solvay has disclosed plans to source energy for its Tavaux, France manufacturing facilities from a biomass thermal power plant. The proposed power plant would be built and operated by energy company Dalkia. The plant, which has just received approval from regulatory authorities in France, is scheduled for start up in 2010. The power plant has been designed to generate 30Mw of electricity and 30 m.t./hour of steam. Solvay estimates the power plant will cost €67 million ($105 million).
