People & Business :: Corporate Social Responsibility Plastics Recovery Hits 50% in Europe9:43 AM MDT | October 27, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff The recovery of plastics in Europe reached 50% for the first time in 2007, according to a report by plastics manufacturing and recycling groups PlasticsEurope (Brussels), EuPC (Brussels), EuPR (Brussels), and EPRO (Brussels). Plastics recovery was up one percentage point in Europe in 2007 from the year earlier, and plastics demand in Europe increased 3%, to 52.5 million m.t., the report says. Of the 50% of plastics recovered, 20.4% was recycled and 29.2% was recovered as energy. Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland...
