People & Business :: Corporate Social Responsibility McKinsey Study Finds Chemical Industry is Net Saver of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (update)5:17 AM MDT | July 8, 2009 | Alex Scott A study undertaken by McKinsey and Company, commissioned by the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), has concluded that the chemical industry is a net saver of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to the extent that for every tonne of carbon dioxide-equivalent (CO2e) the industry generates, its products conserve more than 2 m.t. of CO2e. The report found that by 2030 the emissions abatement potential of chemical industry products could rise to more than 4 m.t. of CO2e savings for each metric tonne generated during the manufacturing process.
