People & Business :: Corporate Social Responsibility Huntsman to Increase Capacity for U.S. Electrolyte Solvents Used in Lithium Batteries (update)8:25 AM MDT | July 20, 2011 | Alex Scott Huntsman’s Performance Products division has announced plans to increase capacity in the near term for its Ultrapure electrolyte solvents at Conroe, TX. Huntsman says it will achieve the planned capacity expansion through “efficiency improvements” by the first quarter, 2012. The solvents are used to make lithium batteries. The company also is investigating where to build a new integrated plant for its Ultrapure solvents in North America. Financial terms are not being disclosed.
