Fire Breaks out at Ineos Complex

An ethylene leak caused a major fire at Ineos’s Cologne, Germany petrochemical complex on March 17. The leak occurred in the main ethylene pipeline at the complex, Ineos says. A nearby acrylonitrile stock tank also caught fire. About 600 firefighters fought the blaze and took more than nine hours to extinguish it. No injuries resulted from the accident, Ineos adds.
