BASF, Inpex, JGC to Jointly Test CCS Technology in Japan

BASF, energy firm Inpex (Tokyo), and engineering firm JGC (Yokohama, Japan) say they have jointly entered into an agreement to carry out demonstration tests on the effectiveness of a novel carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology to capture and recover CO2 contained in natural gas. BASF and JGC have been codeveloping the developmental technology, named High Pressure Acid Gas Capture Technology (HiPACT), since 2004. The three companies will begin testing HiPACT at Inpex’s Koshijihara natural gas plant at Nagaoka city, Japan from next month. ...
