People & Business :: Companies Univar to Acquire ChemCentral11:53 AM MDT | July 26, 2007 | Esther D’Amico Univar, the second-largest chemical distributor worldwide, has agreed to acquire privately held rival ChemCentral, number four, for about $600 million in cash, including assumed debt. The deal will allow Univar to overtake Brenntag as the largest chemical distributor worldwide with combined estimated sales of about $8 billion, and will significantly expand Univar’s U.S. presence. The deal is expected to add to earnings in the first full year of ownership, and is slated to close early in the second quarter, pending shareholder, antitrust and other approvals...
