Univar Raises Bid for ChemCentral

The battle for the top spot among global chemical distributors heated up last week as number two Univar upped its offer to acquire privately held ChemCentral by $50 million, to $650 million, to counter a rival bid from number one Brenntag. ChemCentral, number four globally, says it has agreed to Univar’s revised offer, which followed Brenntag’s non-binding $700-million bid.
