UK competition regulator provisionally rules against AkzoNobel coatings acquisition

Competition Commission (London), the UK's competition regulator, has provisionally ruled against AkzoNobel's previously announced acquisition of the shares it does not own in metal packaging coatings producer Metlac Holding (Bosco Marengo, Italy). The commission says it "provisionally found that the proposed acquisition by AkzoNobel of Metlac Holding would result in a substantial lessening of competition in the supply of metal packaging coatings in the UK." AkzoNobel owns 49% of Metlac Holding, through its AkzoNobel Coatings International (ANCI)...
