Tata Chemicals Reports Fall in Profits and Sales

Tata Chemicals (Mumbai) recorded a 6.5% fall in net profits for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010, to Rs6.06 billion ($129 million), compared with the previous fiscal year. Sales decreased 25%, to Rs95.4 billion. Sales at the company's fertilizer segment fell 45%, to Rs37.8 billion; and sales at the company’s inorganic chemicals segment fell 8%, to Rs54.3 billion. “Soda ash prices have declined year-on-year,” says R.
