Strong Silicone Products Demand Lifts Dow Corning's Profits

Dow Corning’s second-quarter net income soared 91%, to $221 million, on sales up 30%, to $1.54 billion.  “Demand for Dow Corning’s silicones products strengthened over the previous quarter with outstanding growth in Latin America and Asia,” says executive v.p. and CFO J. Donald Sheets. “Dow Corning’s Hemlock Semiconductor Group saw increased sales from new manufacturing capacity that began to come on line in the second quarter,” Sheets says...
