Strong Manufacturing Levels to Lift Second-Quarter U.S. Chemical Earnings

Second-quarter earnings for U.S. chemical makers are expected to be strong compared to the year-ago period, especially for diversified, industrial gases, and specialty chemical producers, analysts say. “The resurgence of U.S. manufacturing through June should support a rebound in U.S. chemical volumes in the second quarter, on the heels of two tough quarters with near-zero volume growth,” says Bank of America (BOA; New York) analyst Kevin McCarthy.
