People & Business :: Companies Shell's fourth-quarter chemical earnings down 45%8:14 AM MST | February 1, 2013 | Francinia Protti-Alvarez Royal Dutch Shell's fourth-quarter chemical earnings, on a current cost of supplies (CCS) basis, were down 45% year-on-year, to $209 million from the $380 million reported in the fourth quarter of 2011, the company says. Chemical CCS earnings were nevertheless up about 3.5% quarter-on-quarter, and sales volumes were down 1.7% during the same period, suggesting pricing-strategy improvements.
