SQM's second-quarter net income shrinks 44%

Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM; Santiago) reports net income of $107.4 million for the second quarter of 2013, down 44% compared with the year before. Net income also shrank, by 24.25%, in the first six months of the year, to $259.2 million. Income before taxes fell by 44% during the reporting period, to $143 million, from $257.4 million during the second quarter of 2012.
