SQM's fourth-quarter net profit falls by half

Sociedad Química y Minera (SQM; Santiago) says its net profit during the last quarter of 2013 totaled $69 million, down more than 50% from the $141.8 million reported in the year-earlier period. Pretax profit was $93.5 million, also falling by half year-on-year (YOY), and revenue fell by just over 18% YOY, to $492.2 million. Full-year results also trended down.
