Reports: US phosphate export cartel PhosChem splits

US phosphate export association Phosphate Chemicals Export Association (PhosChem; Plymouth, MN) has disbanded, a spokesperson for Mosaic said yesterday. This marks the second fertilizer trade association split up this year, after in July potash export cartel Belarusian Potash Co. (BPC; Minsk) collapsed when Uralkali pulled out. A trade war has continued between Russia and Belarus since the break-up, escalating in the arrest of Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner in August.
