Report: Global Chemical M&A Value Has Eclipsed 2009 Total

There have been $27.6 billion in large, over-$1 billion, chemical M&A deals, for the first three quarters of 2010, higher than the corresponding figure for all of 2009, according to a report by consulting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC; New York). For the third-quarter, deal value totaled $11.3 billion, PwC says. Both figures excludes BHP Billton's $39.8 billion bid for PotashCorp, which is now running into regulatory issues in Canada.
