Praxair starts up hydrogen plant, extends pipeline in Louisiana

Praxair announced today that it has started up a 135 million-standard cubic feet/day (scfd) hydrogen plant at Valero’s St. Charles refinery, at Norco, LA, under its long-term supply agreement. The company also says it will complete a 50-mile pipeline extension to the Valero and Motiva Enterprises (Houston) refineries at Norco in the fourth quarter, which will connect its five steam methane reformers (SMRs) between Baton Rouge and New Orleans with 85 total miles of pipeline. “As petrochemical companies continue to make unprecedented investments in the...
