Praxair earnings up on North American growth, lowers full-year guidance

Praxair says third-quarter net income rose 3% year-on-year (YOY), to $445 million—which includes the impact of a pension settlement charge of $9 million pretax. Earnings per share of $1.51/share were in line with estimates as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York). Sales were $3 billion, up 9% YOY, with organic sales growing across all segments. Driven by new project start-ups—including refinery hydrogen supply, on-site sales in North America and Asia grew strongly. South American organic sales reflected higher price and growth in metals...
