Praxair Earnings Rise 5% on Higher Volumes

Praxair’s first-quarter net income rose 5% year-on-year, to $419 million, on sales up 5%, to $2.8 billion. Earnings totaled $1.38/share, beating analysts’ consensus of $1.36/share, as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York). Higher volumes and an increased ownership stake in Scandinavian joint venture Yara Praxair drove the increases in sales and earnings.
