OxyChem to construct HCI unit at Niagara Falls plant

OxyChem (Dallas), a subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum, says it is constructing a hydrochloric acid (HCI) synthesis unit at its Niagara Falls, NY, chlor-alkali plant. The unit is expected to be operational in third-quarter 2014. The unit will consume chlorine and hydrogen manufactured at the Niagara plant and is expected to have a practical capacity of 147,000 m.t. of HCI. The company says it expects to use a portion of the HCI at the Niagara plant and sell the remainder to third-party...
