NewMarket first-quarter earnings up 2%

NewMarket on Thursday announced a year-over-year increase in first quarter earnings of 2%, to $67.8 million. Reported earnings of $5.07/share were also up 2% from the year-ago quarter 5% above the midpoint of analyst estimates as reported by Thomson Reuters. Overall sales were flat at $563 million.    NewMarket's petroleum additives business, which comprises Afton Chemical and Ethyl, reported first quarter revenues of $557.4 million, up slightly from $557.7 million in the year-ago period. Operating profit for the segment fell 5% from $107.2 million...
